Philosophy of the Balavihar Program:
- To provide to individuals from any background, the wisdom of Vedanta and the practical means for spiritual growth and happiness,
enabling them to be positive contributors to society.
- CMTC conducts Balavihar classes for children as part of a comprehensive program of self-development.
- Swami Chinmayananda once said, 'Children are not vessels to be filled, but lamps to be lit'. The goal of Balavihar
is to "wake up the sleeping giant" in our children and inspire them to reach their maximum potential by following the
values expounded by saints and sages.
- Motto of Chinmaya Mission is to give maiximum happiness to maximum number for maximum time.
- Good conduct, emotional refinement, intellectual finesse and spiritual awareness are developed through fun and
play, and through stories and bhajans and other unique techniques by a team of specially trained, experienced, and
dedicated teachers (Parent Volunteers).

Samskritam text books will have to be purchased.
Parental Involvement:
- At least one parent/guardian must be present at the Balavihar location and attend study group (Atma Bodha)
- If parent/guardian is unable to attend a particular session due to emergency, guardianship must be assigned to
another adult and the Balavihar teacher/coordinator notified.
- For each class, 2 class room parents are required. If more than 2 parents sign up, the class teacher will select 2 parents to be Class
Room parents.
- In order for the children to benefit fully from the classes, it is necessary for the Sunday classes to be
supported and enhanced by complementary activities at home. Parents are expected to spend a minimum of one hour
per week working with the child. Twenty minutes each day would be ideal and would make a tremendous positive
impact on the whole family.
