Chinmaya Mission conducts the balavihar for the purpose of teaching India’s rich spiritual heritage and the fundamentals of Vedanta to the young generation.
In Balavihar, the rich cultural heritage of India, including its teachings on moral values, is taught to children and youth at different levels, using the medium of stories, drama, arts and crafts, and discussion. Children are also taught popular Bhajans and Slokas. Classes are organized by children's age, catering to a specific age group.

Balavihar Activities
Apart from the kids activities, the Balavihar actively promotes and conducts various events throughout the year:

  • Vedic Chanting and Bhagavad Geeta study class on alternate saturdays 7:30am
  • Series of discourses By Swami Shantananda at Bridgewater.On saturday from 5:00pm to 6:30pm
  • Monthly Ekadasi Geeta Chanting By Balavihar volunteers
  •  Sriman Narayaneeyam - Ongoing series of pravachan by Swami Shantananda
  • Festival Celebrations By Balavihar families
  • Ashram Beautifcation
  • Food Drives (Annadhanam) - January 3rd Saturday 5:30pm at Ozanam Family Shelter by Grade-9 & above (Chinmayam) children
Who Conducts the Balavihar
The current teachers for Balavihar are volunteers who devote their time to educate the children using a Missionwide curriculum/syllabus that is directed toward the ages of the members of the group.
Parents are encouraged to volunteer for various parts of the Balavihar operations.
Currently more than 50 volunteers provide their time and effort to keep the Balavihar operational. If you would like to volunteer or teach at the Balavihar, please indicate this information on the registration form.
